Join the NYS Nurses Honor Guard
Our vision is to make sure that when a New York State nurse is coming to the end of life or has passed away, that nurse is not forgotten. Volunteer nurses from all over New York are committed to remembering the careers and commitment of their colleagues.
Our mission is primarily two-fold: to pay tribute to nurses throughout New York State at funerals or celebrations of life, as well as providing services for nurses who are approaching end of life with a "Living Tribute," where they are honored for their dedication to the profession of nursing.
Nurses have long been recognized as people worthy of honor, but a world-wide pandemic made it obvious just how important nurses are in delivering quality healthcare.
The New York State Nurses Honor Guard is a coalition of nurses across the state whose mission is to make sure that at the end of their lives or at their passing, no nurse is forgotten. Anyone who has ever worked as a nurse (LPN, RN, CRNA, CNM, or NP) is eligible to have the NYSNHG honor that work. Nurse Honor Guard chapters throughout New York volunteer their time to make sure that when a family wishes to honor their loved one's dedication to the profession of nursing, we are there.
